How to Deal with a Pest Control Problem

Do you have a pest control problem? If so, you're not alone. Millions of people have unwanted guests in their homes and/or gardens. There is a long list of pests that may cause problems for you. They can include mice, rats, moles, roaches, fleas, spiders, mites, ants, bees, wasps and so many more. Common garden pests include aphids and mealybugs. You might even be dealing with more than one type of pest at one time. Luckily, there's plenty of help out there. You have two main options. You can hire a pro to get rid of the pests, or you can do your own pest control.

Hiring a professional exterminator is recommended for highly damaging pests like termites. When your home is at stake, you need the big guns. However, for smaller pest invasions you can often take care of the problem on your own. For example, if you are having a problem with mice, you can set traps and block off any points of entry. If you have a flea problem, setting off flea bombs can work well. Of course, you will need to leave your home when the bomb is working. Another key to good flea control is to treat your housepets. There are effective treatments that are applied to your pet's neck once per month. These treatments kill fleas, ticks, eggs and larvae.

When it comes to garden pests, you can go with a chemical pesticide or you can go the organic route. Chemical pesticides come in spray and powder form. If you are growing vegetables, you might want to go organic. The last thing you want are traces of dangerous chemicals in your produce. You can buy organic pest control products in stores and online, or you can make your own blend. For example, a blend of pungent herbs steeped in vinegar and sprayed on plants can deter all kinds of garden pests.

Dealing with a pest control problem doesn't have to be a hassle. With the right plan of action, you can eradicate your home and garden pests in no time. It is important to not only get rid of the pests, but keep them from coming back. This means taking preventative measures like blocking off entry points and keeping your garden in prime condition. For the home, an ultrasonic pest control device can help keep an invasion at bay.
