Tips for Mole Pest Control
![]() |
Moles can be extremely damaging to your garden. These burrowing creatures tunnel through your soil and cause damage to plants, flowers, vegetables and even your lawn. The Eastern Mole is the most common type of mole found in most gardens. These creatures have a pointy snout and powerful claws that allow them to dig through the soil on their relentless search for food. Mole pest control is crucial if you want to save your garden. While you might think that moles feed on plants and vegetables, they actually eat insects like grub worms. One of the first steps to getting rid of moles is to get rid of their food source.
However, you cannot simply get rid of the food and expect the moles to go away. They might actually become more determined to search for food and cause more damage. There is mole bait you can purchase and place in the area where moles live. When this bait is eaten by the mole, it kills the mole. There are also mole traps that kill the mole. You can also get treatments which get rid of the insects that the mole feeds upon. As you can see, getting rid of this animal takes quite a bit of effort.
That is why some gardeners with an especially troublesome mole problem end up hiring a professional exterminator. To find the right exterminator, check your local Yellow Pages and start calling for information about rates and services. A pro will often be able to get rid of moles even if you have been unable to do so. They have professional grade products and methods of getting rid of these pests. Of course, bringing in the big guns is going to cost more, but it is often worth it for gardeners who have tried everything and are suffering from serious mole related lawn and garden damage.
Another idea for mole pest control is to use a sonic mole repellant. There are battery operated sonic mole repellant devices that work by emitting a frequency that is very uncomfortable to the mole. These creatures cannot stand the sonic frequency and will usually make their home somewhere else. This is one of the most humane methods of getting rid of a mole infestation. You can purchase sonic pest repellant devices most anywhere that sells other pest control products.
