A Guide to Cruelty Free Pest Control

If you are dealing with a pest problem, you might have issues with the more gruesome and cruel methods of pest control. Examples include rodent traps that work by killing the rodent in question. The good news is that there are cruelty free pest control methods that can benefit you and the critters you're trying to get rid of. Some of the most common pests that make good candidates for this type of pest control include mice, rats, rabbits and moles. So, how can you get rid of these invaders without killing them? There are a few ways.

First, there are the no-kill traps. These traps are most commonly used for mice and rats but sometimes you can even buy larger traps for rabbits and moles. These no-kill traps work by luring the animal inside with food. After the pest is inside, the trap closes, preventing escape. The only thing left to do is release the pest somewhere far away from your home or garden. Of course, you cannot be sure that the animal will survive in the wild, but it has a much better chance of survival than if it was caught in a trap designed for killing.

If you have a dog or cat, this can often be a deterrent for various pests. Most cats are great at chasing away mice. Dogs are often ideal for chasing off rabbits and moles outdoors. Of course, there is a chance that the pest could be killed by your dog or cat, so this isn't always the most humane way to go. If you don't have a pest-chasing pet, there are still other options. One of the newest is the ultrasonic pest control device.

This method of cruelty free pest control works by emitting a very uncomfortable sound that can be heard only by pests. You simply plug the device in and let it do its job. People and pets cannot hear the frequency, but rodents and insects can. The frequency is so uncomfortable for them that they will go away. You may need more than one device to treat your home, especially if you have more than one floor or your home is large. The package instructions will tell you how large of an area the ultrasonic device can handle. As you can see, there are plenty of options to cruel pest control that are effective and humane.
